The Swear

On New Year’s Day, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution chose The Swear as one of three city bands who should catapult Atlanta’s rock scene into the international spotlight. The group formed in 2004 – as vocalist/guitarist Elizabeth Elkins joined forces with bass player Kevin Williams, guitarist Jeremy Zamora and drummer Jerod Snider. The Swear has developed a large popular and critical fan base by touring steadily across the Southeast and East Coast – where fans are immediately drawn to the band’s angular, hooky rock songs, unique lyricism and incredibly intense live shows.

The Swear is set to explode with the release of its first full-length, Hotel Rooms and Heart Attacks. Produced by Ted Niceley (Fugazi), Matt Goldman (Cartel, Underoath) and Jeff Tomei (Smashing Pumpkins), and mixed by Eli Janney (Garbage, Clap Your Hands Say Yeah!), the album is an 11-song testament to the band’s pop sensibility and punk rock ethic. The record is a follow-up to the debut EP, Every Trick’s A Good One (produced/mixed by Russ-T Cobb, mastered by Howie Weinberg), which was named one of the best albums of the year by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, the Nashville Tennessean, Georgia Music Magazine, Creative Loafing and The UK Street Voice – and has sold more than 5,000 copies independently.

The Swear has an impressive film and television presence. Actor Dennis Leary handpicked the track “Deadfall” for use on FX’s Rescue Me. The band’s recordings have also appeared on The CW (Smallville), The WB (Roswell), FOX (Reunion), ABC (Life As We Know It), TNT (Wanted), the Discovery Channel (Outward Bound), The N (Beyond the Break), VH1 (Tool Academy), various MTV programs, YouTube’s popular “LonelyGirl15” series, UPN Atlanta, Comcast On Demand and in many films. The band’s cathartic live performances led to slots on the Vans Warped Tour, SXSW, the CMJ New Music Marathon, Austin’s Red Gorilla Music Festival, Chicago’s Mobfest and several Grammy showcases. Radio has also been kind – when “Deadfall” hit commercial radio specialty shows it charted on FMQB’s Top 20 (#17, the only unsigned), The Album Network (#16, the only unsigned) and UNCLE (#16).
